Voyager Point
OVERVIEW
Some outdoor spaces are made for summer. This one was built for every season. The Voyager Point Project is a full outdoor living transformation by Life Outdoors, turning the rear of the home into a sprawling covered entertainer's retreat that works just as well for a winter fireside drink as it does for a long summer lunch.
This was a complete reimagining of the space. Life Outdoors delivered an insulated pergola, a full outdoor kitchen, a striking stone fireplace, an inset spa, and a layered lighting and climate setup, all tied together into one cohesive, resort-grade outdoor room.
The hero of the project is the expansive insulated pergola that runs the full length of the entertaining zone. The insulated roof keeps the space cool in summer and comfortable in the cooler months, while clever use of Macraline skylight panels floods the area with natural light. Rather than ending up dark and cave-like, as large covered areas often do, the space stays bright and open throughout the day, with the skylights drawing daylight deep into the heart of the room. Black exposed beams add structure and contrast against the crisp white lining, and a run of ceiling fans keeps the air moving when the heat builds.
Stretching along one side is a serious outdoor kitchen, finished in moody black cabinetry that anchors the whole space. It is built for genuine entertaining, with a large built-in barbecue, generous bench space, integrated bar fridges, a sink, and a freestanding pizza oven complete with timber storage below. A classic kettle barbecue rounds out the cooking options. This is a kitchen that can cater for a crowd, with everything within arm's reach so the cook never misses the conversation.
Set into the design rather than simply placed on top of it, the inset spa is a standout inclusion. Built into the space and framed by frameless glass balustrading and travertine surrounds, it sits seamlessly within the layout instead of feeling like an add-on. It is positioned to take in the whole space, so anyone soaking can still be part of the action.
What makes this project genuinely year-round is the attention to comfort. Overhead heaters extend the seasons, ceiling fans handle the summer heat, and a layered lighting scheme of downlights, skylights, and feature lighting means the space transitions effortlessly from bright daytime use to a warm, atmospheric evening setting. The Voyager Point Project shows what a complete outdoor living transformation can be: not just a covered patio, but a fully realised second living room that happens to be outside, built to be used and enjoyed every single day of the year.
